No, /. is not hosted by Google. /. only (ab)uses the fact that Google doesn’t seem to care about the HTTP hostname when serving up RSS feeds:
$ host rss.slashdot.org rss.slashdot.org CNAME sourceforge.feedproxy.ghs.google.com sourceforge.feedproxy.ghs.google.com CNAME ghs.l.google.com ghs.l.google.com A 66.249.91.121 $ host http://www.slashdot.org http://www.slashdot.org A 216.34.181.48
